Janelle Fouché

Janelle Fouché (she/her) recently earned her Ph.D. in Education Policy & Program Evaluation from Harvard University, where her research examined the impact of restorative justice practices and school climate on various student outcomes. She is also a proud first-generation, low-income graduate of MIT, where she studied Economics and Management Science, with a concentration in Finance. Her work sits at the intersection of education policy and the carceral system. She currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Service Alliance, which supports hundreds of Massachusetts nonprofits through funding, training, and volunteer mobilization. For the past seven years, Janelle has facilitated college-level courses, tutored, and led workshops in prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers across Massachusetts. Her teaching has ranged from Mass Incarceration & Race at MCI-Norfolk to Storytelling and Justice programs in youth detention centers. Beyond her work in carceral spaces, Janelle teaches at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and serves as a resident advisor supporting Harvard college students. Outside of her academic and professional pursuits, Janelle enjoys dancing with Soca Fusion and game nights with her gal pals.
